Barrel Strength Rye is essentially the barrel-proof version of our Small Batch Rye. As with the Small Batch Rye, we use multiple different types of barrels to produce this product. The added proof makes for a bold expression of our Small Batch in which each note is elevated. Wonderful in cocktails or batched drinks, we recommend having this one by itself. The complexity on the nose causes even the most seasoned of whiskey drinkers to go around for a second sniff. The finish is big with spice and fruit being the dominant characters.
All of our Buzzards Roost Products have been aged in proprietary barrels that we create with our cooperage partner. Each barrel has a unique individual flavor that is used somewhat like a spice rack to complement our whiskeys. We pride ourselves on delivering new and interesting profiles for each release. Our products evolve and change but one thing is for certain, they are always delicious.
Nose:
Honeysuckle, caramel and dark fruit with a slight undertone of fresh oak that brings everything together.
Palate:
Rich and full; allspice, nutmeg and baking spices abound.
Finish:
Fudge, bright fruit and tobacco dominate the finish.
