This Barolo has a special value for our family and represents the history and tradition of blending different cru of Barolo.

Our Barolo comes from the best plots of seven cru. The diversity of soils, exposure and altitude characterizes each of these small but very important terroir. Unifying these diversities, the Barolo offers harmony and complexity with an overall character of the zone.

Separate vinfication. Destemming and light crushing. The maceration and the alcoholic fermentation are in stainless steel with temperature controlled and indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. The tartaric stabilization occurs naturally during the winter with the low temperatures.

Every plots of the crus is kept separate and aged in neutral French oak barrels for 10 months and further 12 months in large casks. Final blend as a result of a further selection in the cellar of the most performing plots of the vintage. Approximately one year of stainless steel and 10 months of bottle aging before release.

This Barolo comes from the best plots of their seven cru. The diversity of soils, exposure and altitude characterizes each of these small but very important terroir. Unifying these diversities, the Barolo offers harmony and complexity with an overall character of the zone.

94 Points by James Suckling
A solid 2017 with a linear flow of fine tannins through the center of the wine providing structure and backbone that gives the wine lovely energy. Lots of blackberries, ripe strawberries and blue fruit. Long and vivid. Drink after 2024.

93 Points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The Paolo Scavino 2017 Barolo bares the signature of Enrico Scavino on the front label as witness to the generational change at this estate, and countless others across the Langhe, that push forward through time thanks to a continual ownership handoff that goes from father to son. This classic wine is bright and full of vitality, showing a more cheerful side to this often austere Piedmont grape. Dark fruit and cassis segue to cedar and camphor ash.

92 Points by Wine Spectator

An expression of bright cherry, plum and licorice marks this supple red. Fleshy and balanced, with a line of firm, chalky tannins girding the tar- and eucalyptus-tinged finish. Should be enjoyable soon.
