Rosso di Montalcino, made with 100% Sangiovese grapes like Brunello, is another expression of the tradition and terroir of Montalcino. Argiano's Rosso di Montalcino has a noble pedigree and is produced with the grapes grown in the Sangiovese vineyards that extend around the estate. The grape-variety is Sangiovese Grosso, a selected clone which has adapted perfectly to the soil at Argiano; this wine receives the same care and attention devoted to the Brunello, from vineyard management to bottling.

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast

A very sanguine nose has cranberries, wild cherry and strawberry fruit leather, followed by sun warmed bricks and top soil. The palate offers more crunchy red fruit, but also fresh, herbal notes of wild fennel and sage with the metallic tang of soil and sharp-edged tannins. Excellent balance and integration.

Masses of crushed cherries, ashen stone and grilled herbs make the 2020 Rosso di Montalcino impossible to ignore. This is a silky and pliant effort with a pleasant inner sweetness and pretty strawberry fruits. The 2020 lingers with a slight herbal tinge and a tart twang of wild berries, yet the endnote is freshness. There's so much energy here.
